Be a Volunteer for the Cactus Classic Invitational! There are lots of ways to serve at the Cactus Classic other than from the service line. Get involved in Arizona's only club-run convention center tournament and help keep the cost of this great event affordable! The entry fee to the Cactus Classic is the nation's lowest entry for a convention center event - thanks to the incredible volunteers!

Cactus Classic Invitational Volunteers | Positions and Job Descriptions
COURT SET-UP | FRIDAY, JANUARY 18, 2013
Lay down and assemble SportCourt tiles for volleyball courts; fill water barrels, assemble and install volleyball standards and net systems, install signage and scoreboards, etc. This job is a physical, labor-intensive job. Direction will be provided by the Cactus Classic Court Set-up Coordinators and the court rental supervisor.
COURT TEAR-DOWN | MONDAY, JANUARY 21, 2013
Disassemble SportCourt volleyball courts; tiles are removed and lifted into crates. This job is a physical, labor-intensive job and requires some heavy lifting. Gloves and closed toe shoes are recommended. Direction will be provided by the Cactus Classic Court Set-up Coordinators and the court rental supervisor.
SECURITY AND SECURITY GREETER
Security volunteers provide a visible security presence and help monitor the event grounds and entrances to the convention center. Security will assist any professional security and tournament staff in and around the convention center. Security Greeters will assist by providing an emphasis on greeting attendees at the convention center entrances, providing site information and directions, and informing players, coaches, parents, and spectators of site regulations - such as no outside food/beverage or coolers allowed inside the convention center.
INFORMATION |REGISTRATION BOOTH
These volunteers will end up knowing almost everything there is to know about the Cactus Classic Invitational. With your thorough knowledge of site logistics and event programming, game schedules, etc. you will support the team registration/check-in process (Friday evening, Saturday morning shift only), field various questions from visitors, locate results online using an AES kiosk, maintain a Lost and Found, assist maintain a bulletin board with all tournament results. Volunteers must be comfortable using a computer to locate information in the AES database.
TOURNAMENT T-SHIRT BOOTH
These volunteers will help sell the wildly popular Tournament T-Shirts during the event. CCJ has sold out the tournament t-shirt every year, so the booth will be crazy the first part of the event as players attempt to purchase the color and size they want! During the event, volunteers will account for every shirt sold and collect the money (cash only). Morning shifts will set up the t-shirt booth and prepare for the day. Evening shifts will help close the booth and reconcile monies collected - should be done at end of each shift for accurate accounting. Volunteers must be comfortable handling money and making change.
COURT RUNNERS
Court runners support the referees and court coordinators by running information, water, equipment, etc. to and from the tournament desk or office and courts. Court runners also circulate through designated courts to ensure needs are being met as well as assist other Cactus Classic volunteers to ensure the event is well-run and fun for everyone involved.
MEET-AND-GREET
Make your smiling face the first one they'll see. Greet players, coaches, and spectators at the site entrances, distribute any official programs/information, and provide information and directions as required.
HOSPITALITY ROOM ATTENDANT
Hospitality Room attedrndants help monitor the Hospitality Room for volunteers and event staff. This will include helping serving and/or preparing any food provided, as well as keeping the room clean. The attendants will work with the Hospitality Coordinator with suggestions for future food and beverage items. .
