2013 SEASON PLAYER EVALUATIONS

EVALUATIONS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED | PLEASE EMAIL CCJ DIRECTOR BELOW IF YOU MISSED THE EVALUATIONS AND ARE INTERESTED IN CLUB VOLLEYBALL

Club Cactus Volleyball Club player evaluations are open to all athletes. You do not have to have any prior volleyball expereince to be considered for one of our teams. We do not reserve any spots for veteran CCJ players, nor will we offer spots to any player before conducting our evaluations for the season. Please do not think that because we do not recruit you to our evaluations or offer you a spot prior to the evaluations that we do not want you to be a part of our club. We feel that the best and most fair way to compile a team is to evaluate all players together at the evaluations and then offer spots after all sessions are complete.

We will be forming teams for the 2013 season very soon. Please look over the following information and register with USA Volleyball prior to attending the evaluations. All evaluations are free to any athlete that wishes to check out our volleyball club.

Evaluation Registration Process

STEP ONE | USAV REGISTRATION: Register online with USA Volleyball. All athletes (returning and new) must be registered members prior to attending any club evaluations. A copy of our USAV membership confirmation must be turned in at check-in at the evaluations.

STEP TWO | CLUB CACTUS VOLLEYBALL REGISTRATION: Print and fill out the following CCJ forms prior to the evaluations. These forms may also be filled out at check-in during the evaluations.

STEP THREE | ADDITIONAL ARIZONA REGION FORMS: Print and fill out the following forms prior to the evaluations. These forms are required by the Arizona Region and may also be filled out at check-in. In addition, all athletes that are new to CCJ must bring a copy of their birth certificate.

STEP FOUR (OPTIONAL) | MAIL FORMS TO CCJ IN ADVANCE: Athletes may mail all forms and birth certificate to Club Cactus in order to complete the registration early and avoid any long lines at check-in.

Please mail forms by Tuesday October 30, 2012 for 12U/14; and mail by Tuesday November 13, 2012 for 16U/18U. It is also acceptable to bring all forms and copies to check-in during the evaluations.

Evaluation Procedures

Check-in will open at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled start time for each session. Once checked-in, athletes may warm-up and stretch in the gym while waiting for the evaluation session to begin. Coaches will conduct a camp-like evaluation session that will include warm-up exercises and dynamic stretching; followed by drills that will focus on skill development for passing, setting, attacking, and floor defense. Depending on the age group, some physical and coordination drills will also in completed.

The athletes will also be evaluated during controlled-scrimmages and other competitive drills. CCJ believes in an open tryout and players will be given the opportunity to earn their spot on the team during evaluations.

At the conclusion of the evaluations, the coaching staff will retreat into closed meetings to compare notes prior to selecting teams. Players will be able to cool down and stretch during the final 20 minutes. All rosters will be posted following the meetings and players will have the opportunity to commit to CCJ in accordance with the Arizona Region and Club Cactus Volleyball committment policy.
