COVID-19 FAQ

Frequently asked questions regarding COVID-19 and the 2020 Volleyball Season.  This is a fluid situation that we are monitoring and discussing the club's response day-to-day - sometimes hourly.   We are committed to keeping our CCJ members family informed, so we'll be updated frequently asked questions with details and answers as we have them.  Please keep in mind that there are many questions that we simply do not have the answer to yet.

If you have any additional questions not addressed here, please email info@clubcactusvolleyball.com and we'll add it here and/or answer as best we can.

IS THE CLUB SEASON OVER?

No - not at this time. Along with other top clubs across the Nation, CCJ is planning to resume some activity after the USAV restrictions are lifted, while still following the recommendations from the Pima County Health Department and State of Arizona. We are continuing to work with USAV, JVA, and other clubs around the country to make sure this season will continue as soon as it is safe. It may not look like every other season, but we are hopeful that there will be more volleyball to come. We still have secured spots in postponed and/or rescheduled events. Given the fluid nature of this issue, we cannot predict exact day that volleyball activities will resume. We are working to replace as many missed events as possible given the calendar and unknown restart date. Everyone is hopeful that we will resume tournaments sometime in May, with events continuing into June and possibly July for the teams scheduled to go to USA Junior National Volleyball Championships.

WHEN WILL THE SEASON RESUME?

All practices, lessons, tournaments, trainings, and programming through Club Cactus Juniors have been suspended until April 15. USA Volleyball has eliminated the sanctioning of all USAV events including but not limited to events, practices, individual training sessions or anything covered by USA Volleyball insurance. We will not practice prior to April 15, unless USAV restrictions change. At that time, we will evaluate when to start practices at that time while adhering to any State of Arizona guidelines.

WHAT CAN WE DO DURING THIS BREAK?

We want all of our athletes to stay active both phyically and mentally. CCJ has developed a series of at-home workouts and some mindset training. Please visit our Virtual Practice webpage for more information. All you need is a ball and some personal space. Use the wall, grab a family member, whatever it takes to get those touches in. Or get a workout in however you can. There's no wrong way to keep yourself ready to go. Send us videos of how you're staying ready and we'll share them on our social media!

WILL WE RECEIVE A REFUND?

Unfortunately, there will be a financial impact as a result of COVID-19, and our goal is to minimize the impact between the club, staff, coaches and families. While we remain optimistic that we will return to the court in April or May, there is a possibility of a shortened club season and prorated refunds and/or credits.

Given the fluid nature of the situation we find ourselves in in regard to COVID-19, it's too early to cancel the season and start refunding members. However, we understand that this could change at any moment. Please keep in mind that the payment schedule was established as a convenience for families paying tuition and does not reflect activity in any particular month - many of the expenses (Player uniforms and shoes, equipment, tournament contracts, insurance, gym rental, etc.) have been paid early in the season.

We appreciate everyone's patience as we navigate through this difficult time.
  • INSTALLMENT PAYMENTS: At this time, we have pushed current payments for Regional Teams to April 25. We will reevaluate the situation and payment schedule in April when we have a better idea about when we can resume training and what the new schedule (with all postponed tournaments) will look like. At that point, we will evaluate all deposits and expenses that we can recover and reconcile of each family's account individually.
  • YOUTH ACADEMY REGISTRATION: We will offer a full refund or credits for all CCJ clinics or programs that were ENTIRELY canceled.
  • FLIGHTS: We cannot offer credit or compensation for canceled flights.
  • PARENT HOTELS: We cannot offer credit or compensation for canceled hotels.

WHICH TOURNAMENTS HAVE BEEN CANCELED/POSTPONED?

Due to USAV restrictions, CCJ teams will not compete at any tournaments until at least after April 15. As of now, the tournament cancellations/postponements include: ARIZONA REGION EVENTS Open Division (Postponed; 1 tournament) Championship Division (Postponed; 2 tournaments) Club Division (Postponed; 2 tournaments) Arizona Region Vulture Peak Challenge (Canceled) Arizona Region National Qualifier (Postponed pending USAV bid instruction) NATIONAL EVENTS Colorado Crossroads JNQ (Canceled) SCVA Red Rock Wave JNQ (Postponed to May 8-10, 2020) Lone Star Classic JNQ (Postponed to June 5-7, 2020) USAV 18U National Championships (Postponed to June 23-25, 2020)

SHOULD WE CANCEL OUR HOTEL ROOMS FOR VULTURE PEAK?

Yes. The Arizona Region announced on March 20 that it has officially canceled both weekends of the Vulture Peak Challege. This includes our 163, 153, 142, 143, 132, 121, 122 teams.

WILL MY CHILD BE PENALIZED FOR MISSING FUTURE PRACTICES IF SHE IS SICK?

If your child has a respiratory illness or fever once we return to practice, PLEASE STAY HOME. Playing time will not be affected by missing practices due to illness. Our highest priority is the health and safety of all of our athletes, families, and staff!

SHOULD WE CANCEL OUR TRAVEL PLANS FOR NATIONAL EVENTS?

If the National Event your team was planning to attend has officially canceled or postponed, flights and hotels for those trips should be canceled. Some tournaments and housing companies have handled the cancelations on their own. Please do not cancel travel plans for any National Event until it has officially been canceled or postponed. The following tournaments are still scheduled at this time:

  • SCVA Red Rock Wave JNQ (May 8-10; Las Vegas)
  • JVA West Coast Cup (May 23-25, 2020; Long Beach State)
  • Lone Star Classic JNQ (June 5-7, 2020; Dallas)
  • USA Volleyball 18U National Championships (June 23-25, 2020; Reno)
  • USA Volleyball Junior National Championships (June 25-July 5, 2020; Dallas)
