CACTUS CLASSIC INVITATIONAL | TUCSON, ARIZONA
2021 CACTUS CLASSIC INFORMATION
We were hopeful that we would be in a position by January to be able to host the 2021 Cactus Classic Invitational. We know many clubs depend on this event to kick off their club season and we were excited to be a part of the JVA Challenge Series this year.
Based on the current COVID metrics and guidelines, both nationally and locally in Arizona, it will not be possible to host a large event in the convention center, therefore the 2021 Cactus Classic Invitational has been canceled. In discussions with the Tucson Convention Center, Tucson Sports, and our staff, we feel this decision is best for the safety of all athletes, staff, their families and the community of Tucson.
Due to the rising numbers, Pima County currently has a ban on all athletic events involving out-of-state teams that is set to expire December 31, 2020. Earlier this week, we received some inside details that the Pima County Health Department is considering extending this ban on events through January. Knowing this information now, we felt it was only fair to cancel the tournament now instead of waiting until the last week.

SPECTATORS AGREEMENT FOR ENTRY
The Cactus Classic Invitational is a USA Volleyball sanctioned event. By entering the facility for this event, all participants, coaches, and/or spectators are subject to the Terms & Agreement, found by clicking here. In addition, all participants and spectators agree to abide by terms and the following Spectators Code of Conduct as required by USA Volleyball. Spectators also understand that injury from flying objects incidental to the sport of volleyball may occur at this event and attend at their own risk. Be alert at all times, especially during active play.
Children not participating on a team entered in the event MUST BE under the supervision of their parents at all times. The venue is not to be considered an open play area. Open courts and free space within the facility (including the lobby and escalators) are not designated or designed for general child-play activities and should be used for event related activities only.
SECURITY CHECK/BAG INSPECTION (TCC)
The Tucson Convention Center may institute a security check-point at all entrances to the playing venue for the Cactus Classic Invitational. Guests entering the TCC will be subject to search at the discretion of Management. The TCC does not provide storage for any confiscated items or baggage.
This new procedure will apply to all participants (players and coaches) as well. The TCC recommends that teams should plan to arrive earlier than normal to allow for this enhanced security process.
We are striving to make our event as enjoyable and safe for all attendees and participants. Therefore, spectators and participants are prohibited from bringing the following items into and playing venue at the Cactus Classic Invitational:
Personal Seats and Chairs
Coolers of any kind
Personal transportation devices (i.e. hoverboards, skateboards, roller-sneakers, etc.)
Oversized bags or luggage
Weapons of any kind
All tobacco products - including e-Cigarettes and vaping products
Loud noise makers
Other items as determined by the staff
If you are asked to remove an item from the playing facility, you must do so immediately or you will be removed from the event. Please be aware that state laws for the right to carry any of the items listed above into public areas do not apply once you are admitted through the doors of the event. Prohibited items will not be stored by CCJ or by the TCC or SCC.
NO COOLERS ALLOWED
NO COOLERS of any kind, of any size, or for any reason are permitted on the Tucson Convention Center complex. Coolers left inside or outside the building will be removed to off the TCC complex. Coolers left outside the building are the sole responsibility of the owner, but may be confiscated if security deems them a hazard. Neither Club Cactus Juniors Volleyball Club LLC nor the facility will assume any responsibility for coolers or providing a place for them.
No outside food can be brought into the Convention Center building nor the Sporting Chance Center, not even into the lobbies. These are Convention Center rules that we must enforce as a condition of our contracts; it is not our rule. We understand people don’t like this, and neither do we. But we are bound by the terms of the contracts for these venues and cannot negotiate this in anyway. We apologize for any inconvenience it cause.
TEAM CAMP AREAS RESTRICTIONS
The Sporting Chance Center will allow limited areas for Team Camps/Tables. Please follow all SCC rules and policies related to the team camp set-up. We do not want to lose this privileged for future volleyball events.
THERE WILL NOT BE ANY TEAM CAMP AREA at the Tucson Convention Center. This will include the Fire Lane that we have used in the past. The Tucson Convention Center is under new management and the Cactus Classic Invitational will be adhering our tournament polices to the rules and regulations of the TCC.
There are other areas on the TCC campus and Downtown for players and parents to gather and rest between matches. Please do not organize any camp spot on campus – we appreciate your cooperation.
